May, 2022 Hardtail Build Block

Yes, I know it’s August and I’m posting pictures from the May build block. My excuse is the same as it’s been, but otherwise I plead the fifth. Busy, busy, building bikes. Anyway here they are!

Sara’s Jedi Speeder in Illusion Blue

This was a truly custom one. Sara wanted something to replace her do-everything commuter bike that she’d been putting in the miles on for years. Together with her and her partner David we designed something that simply doesn’t fit in any of today’s bike categories.

It has features such as:
-Pinion C1.12 internal gearbox integrated into the frame.
-Room for two wheelsets; a skinny 700c and wider 27.5 setup.
-Suspension corrected for a Fox 32 Adventure Cross 40mm travel fork.
-Designed around short cranks that actually fit the rider.
-Short chainstays and low BB for Jedi Speeder handling.
-Rack mounts. Because being a human means carrying stuff around sometimes.

It was really, really fun working with these two to come up with this frame/bike concept, and I think we nailed the execution too. I was happy to hear that she’s putting in the miles on this bike, and I hope she does for years to come.

They were kind enough to send a picture of it all built up too!

Tim’s Wyvern in Forest Green

Tim got a very nice Wyvern in our ‘tweener size of Med/Lg. He picked forest green for the powder coat and silver decals and it came out quite nice.

Shawn’s Talos in Illusion Shocker

The only complete bike to come from this build block was a Talos in Med for Shawn in, yes, Illusion Shocker. Shawn wanted something unique, and he picked this color out as a custom order-in. It’s always interesting doing ordered in colors, since you never know exactly what the result will look like.

Shawn got a pretty sweet single speed build kit, and here are some of the highlights:
-Onyx hubs with some Myth Black Hole Wide rims.
-Custom unicrown fork.
-Bikeyoke Revive 2.0 dropper.
-Endless bike co. cog and chainring.
-Shimano XT 4 piston brakes.
-Raceface Turbine cranks.
-White Industries headset.

This sucker came out pretty sweet I have to say. What do you guys think of this color? Let me know if you want to see it added to the list of standard colors here at Myth.
