An update from Myth Cycles part 2

In part two of the update, I want to talk about Myth and how we’re going to be doing things moving forward. The bike industry is in a weird place right now so we’re doing everything we can to stay nimble and ride out the storm. Here are some of the changes coming down the pipeline.

Ordering

To start, we’re going back to the system we used to have for placing bike orders. Every bike, semi-custom or full custom, gets ordered this way:

Step 1: Place your deposit
Step 2: When your spot in line arrives, we build your bike
Step 3: Enjoy!

Simple and easy. This change allows us to do two things: keep the build queue lean and efficient, and also offer more variations on each semi-custom frame so folks can get weird stuff like belt drive splitters added on. For instance; in between sizes are back!

The website has been updated to reflect this change, and you can visit the Deposit Page when you’re ready to get in line. That said, the Zodiac full suspensions have to work slightly differently since they are only worth building in batches. Those bikes are on hold at the moment.

Complete builds

Complete builds on frames are going away. This hasn’t been an easy one to come to terms with, but the reality is that we can’t compete on price with the huge online vendors and ebay, and we’ve been selling very few complete builds anyway since a lot of our customers want to roll their own. That said, we are still offering some parts on all frames, those will be:
-Headsets
-Suspension forks
-Custom wheelsets

There are always caveats however, and if you’re looking for a high-end complete build kit with many of the parts meticulously chosen by me, I would be happy to build up your frame as a complete. This option is for folks who want the best of the best and aren’t interested in price shopping around to 10 different websites, but rather get a solid build kit that will ride well and last long.

I am also happy to work with your local bike shop to let them know what they need to know to build up your frame, and you can support your local wrench while strengthening your relationship with your LBS all at the same time.

Powdercoat colors

We’ve got a lot of new colors to choose from! Go check out the Colors Page to see what’s on the menu now. This will be evolving over time, so some changes may occur over the next few months, but many of the new options are here to stay. I will be taking photographs of the new offerings soon, so look for those in the gallery as well.

I’m also working on some slightly more wild paint jobs I’d like to offer in the future, so if you’re interested in those we can discuss them too.

Product updates

I won’t get too deeply into this here but instead just give a teaser: Several frame models are getting updates, and the changes will be awesome! There are also some components incoming that are going to be great additions to the handlebars already available. Way too much excitement for this post, but I will be making more as these things progress.

TLDR

So: ordering process is different but simpler, no more completes, and new colors and parts! In reality the net affect on most of Myth’s customers is close to zero. I just wanted to give a quick summary so everyone knows where we stand right now. All that said, are you interested in a bike? If so, reach out and start the conversation via the Contact Page.
